California Cannabis Wedding

Nikki and Alec Roach, owners of Casa Bonita bud & breakfast hosted the epitome of a 420 wedding when they married on 4/20 of 2018. The occasion was surely celebrated with cannabis, so much so that they were even featured on news sources!

Love and Marij vendor Korinna Peterson, owner of Le Festin Events, walked us through this event that she played a major role in orchestrating. Ms. Peterson has opened her doors to cannabis events and explains her reasoning: “I think it is about time we truly begin to look at cannabis in a light where we remove the stigma and spend time educating the public.?

Kiel Rucker, owner of Head and Heart Photography, captures perfectly the significance of cannabis in their relationship in the photos he was kind enough to share with us.

According to Korinna, she and the couple wanted “to highlight the many possibilities? of how cannabis can elegantly be used in a wedding without it taking center stage.  The vendors who worked on this wedding practiced safe cannabis consumption at this private event and all guests (adults only) were aware that cannabis would be consumed.

Budtenders and canna-mocktail mixologists performed their craft in the Canna-lounge. Cannabis leaves adorned the florals all the way from the centerpieces to the bride’s bouquet. The cake was THC-infused and guests were free to take some home with them.

At the end of the evening, guests were provided with favor bags called “stoner munchies,? equipped with necessities like pre-rolls, eyedrops, gum, etc.

This wedding occurred on the central coast of California in a town named Harmony established in 1869. According to its site, this location is a 2.5-acre, one-block town with two sought-after wedding locations: Harmony Chapel and surrounding gardens for both an indoor and outdoor option. The entire town is available to rent for events too.

Cannabis Elopement in the Desert

Love and Marij is excited to share this wedding recap photographed by JamieY, owner of JamieY Photography, featuring a styled cannabis elopement photoshoot with couple Raquel and Greg.  JamieY is passionate about doing justice to her clients’ spirits and believes in showcasing why they shine in every photo, as mentioned on her website.

The shoot took place in Nipton, California; a former ghost town discovered sixty miles south of Vegas, on the edge of the Mojave desert. Known for its breathtaking mountains, sunsets, and dark skies, this cannabis-friendly resort is referred to as “Magical Nipton.”

Nipton’s cool vibe is second to none with features such as tee-pees available for rent where guests are surrounded by an eighty-acre outdoor art gallery.

Raquel, Greg and Jamie were eager to showcase its unique features and options that allow a perfect wedding or elopement venue in a desert town with a rustic feel.

Guests at Nipton are able to smoke cannabis freely in their public smoking areas. “If you want a weed wedding, this is your spot,? JamieY says. Couples may choose to have a small intimate elopement ceremony, like Raquel and Greg, or rent out the entire town for their big day.

Raquel and Greg chose a picnic-setup in front of a teepee incorporating cannabis for their ceremony location.

They each ate an edible before the ceremony, followed by a joint unity lighting. The couple both lit their joints by the officiant and said their vows.

There was also a bar cart adorned with cannabis leaves and nuggets alongside THC-infused brownies and macaroons. Celebration beverages included Chronic Cellars Purple Paradise Zinfandel and Ace Craft Cider.

The couple and Jamie smoked in the teepee afterward, but there is also a hotel named “Hotel California,? and even a bar should anyone be interested.

JamieY leaves LMJ with a beautiful final line about the beauty and catch-all atmosphere of this cannabis-friendly community, she states “Nipton is like a little jewel in the middle of the desert. Surrounded by art, amazing sunsets, Joshua trees, and you can even see the milky way at night.? While Nipton in and of itself is an amazing destination, we continue to hope for the addition of more cannabis-friendly towns and resorts like it to allow more options for wedding venues.

Cannasexual Valentine's Day Love

Just when you sigh that exasperated sigh of relief that the holidays are over, New Year’s arrives and suddenly the store shelves are stocked with Valentine’s Day decor.  Another unavoidable “Hallmark holiday” has arrived, but whether you’re single or with a special someone, today is a wonderful day to treat yourself by indulging in some TLC with CBD (or THC if it’s legal)!

Cannabis is an excellent tool in bridging the gap between you, your personal and sexual health, and your partner(s).  At Love and Marij, we believe in the holy trinity of mind, body, and cannabis, and that’s what our 2020 V-day is all about.

We caught up with Ashley Manta, award-winning sex educator and entrepreneur of the brand CannaSexual to explore some tips for successfully correlating sex and cannabis to enhance your Valentine’s day.

GENERAL RULE:

Whether alone or with someone you trust.  “It’s important to tailor your cannabis consumption to the specific needs of your body and mind on any given day,? she reminds us.

CANNABIS FOR PLEASURE:

Cannabis does not always have to be consumed via inhalation in order to reap its benefits. When asked if she could settle on one strain as a prelude to intercourse for the rest of her life, she’s unable to pick just one because her needs vary.  Manta says she tailors her route of consumption and strain depending on her desired effects, sharing that some days she reaches for a 1:1 CBD to THC cultivar to help relax her, while other days she relies only on CBD topicals like Foria. No matter what you’re smoking on, before you cut to the chase, “communicate your needs to your partner,? Manta states.

A GOOD READ:

The value of reading as a means to enhancing one’s sex life is often overlooked. Just like many things in life you sometimes need to read the guidebook before you roll your sleeves up. Manta suggests from the plethora of pleasure-mastery books, Come As You Are: The Surprising New Science That Will Transform Your Sex Life” by Dr. Emily Nagoski, is at the top of her list to accompany a joint. “It’s phenomenal,? Manta confirms, and “a must read for anyone who has a vulva or loves someone with a vulva,? she insists. Reader’s seeking tips for improving their own pleasure or for their partner can improve their knowledge of extensive topics like arousal, desire, being turned on and how our brains process all of these stimulants.

CANNA FLIX TIPS:

Decided upon staying in with some edibles and Netflix to treat yourself?  Manta suggests two must-see documentaries that explore opposite sides of the spectrum of cannabis’ reputation. “Grass is Greener” on Netflix, takes a cultural approach and shows the perspective of cannabis as a disruptor within communities of color and how folks have been targeted. “Weed the People” may be a more positive V-day flick with its perspective on the medicinal cannabis industry through testimonies by patients.

No matter how you decide to incorporate cannabis into your Valentine’s day agenda this year, remember to always dose safely and practice safe sex.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
